Professional Statement
My work is focused on facilitating teenagers and emerging adults through life’s challenges by coaching them to embrace and become their best selves, focusing on one objective at a time. I have in-depth education and experience working with families and children of all ages. I works with clients relationally and experientially to discover their intrinsic capabilities to thrive in the world. I strongly believe teens and emerging adults have innate abilities to reach their goals. The collaborative work stems from the client's desire for themselves to grow.

About Me...
Life has rarely been predictable nor linear for me. However, a few things have been consistent. I have always been surrounded by people who have loved, guided, and supported me. I am a lifelong learner, and I have a deep affinity for people, especially teenagers!

Born in Santa Barbara, CA, my bilingual (Spanish/English), multigenerational upbringing was filled with family and fun. However, school was never easy for me. I was diagnosed with dyslexia and didn't begin reading until much later than the other kids. This continues to be a challenge, but what I lack in spelling skills, I make up for in empathy and problem-solving abilities.

When I was 14, my mom passed away, leaving my dad as a single father of four children (ages 14, 12, 4, and 2). This experience showed me the importance of community and family.
After high school, I attended SBCC and earned an AA in Early Childhood Education, with an emphasis on Bilingual, Bicultural Education.

Work, life, and caring for my younger siblings kept me from pursuing college studies for some time. During this period, I underwent personal growth and developed essential life skills. Nearly ten years after graduating from high school, I obtained a Bachelor's in Social Service Administration. I then became a Case Manager at Transition House Santa Barbara, a family homeless shelter.
In 2000, my life took a wonderful turn when I got married and had my two daughters, who are now 19 and 21 years old.

I have owned two small businesses, a children's consignment shop, and a specialty events rental company.

During the pandemic, I felt inspired to return to education, and in 2022, I earned a Master's in Education, Leadership, and Change.

Currently, I hold a seat on the Board of Directors of Gayla Pride and Diversity in San Luis Obispo and Transition House Santa Barbara.

All of this is to say that I am well-versed in the art of life and, coupled with my formal education, your teens will be in qualified hands. I am excited to ignite wonder, joy, and growth within young people.
